The Hiding Place-Corrie ten Boom

Wow, what a book. When I look at what has happened in my life; hurts, disappoints and mistakes nothing compares to what Corrie, Betsy, Father, Toos, Willem, Kik and the millions of people during WWII had to endure. Yet, Corrie made a choice with God's awesome and powerful help, to forgive. I would find it very difficult to do that with everything she endured. Yet we see God all around that dark, dark time. The fact that her release was a "mistake", was such a God moment.

Forgiving isn't a feeling, it's an act. It is one of the hardest things to do. The enemy wants to to be wounded again, so we must choose to forgive again and again.

I highly recommend this book to everyone. No, our 10 year isn't ready. But in a few years he will be.

Lord, I choose to forgive those that have hurt me and to forgive myself. I will not let the enemy hold me down with his lies. Lord, let me remember that Jesus gave his life for me.

Safe Trip

Mikey and I made it back safe and sound about 4:30pm Saturday. I very much missed Tony! I know it's silly, I was only gone four days. But crazy me, I love my husband and spending time with him.

Mikey and I had a great time. Mikey was a great help to Lisa. They did a bunch of baking Thursday and Friday evening.
Fort McKavett has the Educators Day on Friday and a public event on Saturday.

Thursday morning, Mikey and I relaxed some around the house. We got Julie, my horse, out from the pasture and began to groom her. She is almost 25 and has always gotten a thick coat. We worked on shedding her out and getting burs off of her. I did bring a saddle and bridle. Julie hasn't been ridden in about four years. But I got on her and she remember it all. It was so nice to ride her. Wonderful memories came back.

Friday a weather front came in and it was COLD! The wind can get really bad there at the Fort. We had fun with the Chuckwagon (one was a homeschool family), Buffalo Soldiers, Camels, Farm Animals, Women's Role, Laundress, Flag raising, Artillery Display and the (modern) Army. Mikey kept saying he wanted to get to the butter churning. We finally made it over there, but the butter had already set and she couldn't do anything with it. Seems the weather was giving her trouble. They are a homeschool family and she remembered us from last year. Just as last year there were a few things that we didn't get to see. Mikey and I ran back to Ken and Lisa's house to warm up. Lisa held a tea with the ladies.

After drinking four cups of coffee and reading The Hiding Place, I went outside to ride Julie again. Once again another nice ride. Mikey and I went back over to the Fort to help serve dinner to the volunteers. It went down to freezing that night.

Saturday morning, after eatting bacon and eggs, we packed the car. Mikey and I drove to the Fort and said goodbye to Lisa and Ken and hit the road.

I am so thankful for; a safe trip and Lisa and Ken. Praying they recover from the long event!!

Heading out shortly

Well I've had my coffee and sorted through devotionals that I was behind on! Mikey and I are about to make breakfast. I'm going to toss the bags in the car while he cooks the eggs.

Tony forgot his cell phone, so I'll stop by the PD on my way out to give him his phone. It will give me a chance for another good-bye!!!

Praying for not a lot of rain and safe travel as we head out.

One quick hair thought!

Tony got a 1991 Mazda Miata last month. So this past weekend we went to see some friends that were a few hours away. We had a wonderful time, it was fun driving with with top down. Just one small problem! My Hair!!!!! Ok, my hair isn't short nor is it long. But it was a mess either way. So I looked into some hair coverings and I have ordered two of them. It just makes you think back to the old movies!! I'm sure that I am not as beautiful or graceful as any of those fine ladies.

I just purchased two from www.coveryourhair.com So I guess we will have to try them out when they come in. I'm sure Tony will like that excuse!!

Got to run, he should be coming in the door any sec!!!!

Hold that thought

Well, of course just as I'm getting the hang of the blogging thing, I need to put it on hold. I will be leaving here between 10:30-11am tomorrow morning. I am looking forward to seeing my sister Lisa, my brother-in-law Ken and my horse, Julie. I will miss my hubby, greatly. He has a lot going on at work and we would have to hire a pet sitter for four days, can't afford that. So, I might add something tomorrow morning before I leave. But for now, I need to focus on getting everything finished, so Tony and I have uninterrupted time tonight.

Might update our trip while we are there, but they have dial up so I don't know if I'll give it a try. Cell phones, well if you use a local company and you stand just right it works! So shortly after I get off I-10 just past Junction I'm in a dead zone as Verizon would say. None of the big guys works out there. Not enough customer base to get tower space. Lisa and Ken have switch to a local cell provider, so I can use their phone to call home. Oh, no...no text messaging for three days!! Ok, get over yourself!

Well, I'll see everyone Sunday afternoon after a few load of laundry and some time with Tony!!

What's in a Name?

So I'm sure many (I think all three of you as of this moment) are wondering about the Kaos part. Well, I will go back around 16 years, when my husband and I first started dating. I introduced him to the joys of cats. Yes, until that point he really didn't like cats. They would get on his car and scratch his paint. So, I let him know that the cat I had at that point in time was an indoor only cat, a black kitty named Jessica. So we soon adopted a kitten, Bauer, together. He was a blue and white tabby. Very flashy! He was Tony's cat and he made that clear to me!

Somehow he started researching cat shows. I don't know if he thought it would be better than horse shows or not, can't remember. By that time we had adopted two more cats. Mopar and Milky Way(Bear,Bear) were their names. We decided to enter a local show that allowed house hold pet cats(HHP's). They gave them titles and awards, just liek the purebred cats. We entered all three cats. Milky Way was a star!! Mopar wasn't feeling great. We lost him two weeks later to a string that got caught in his intestine. To this day I am a freak about strings and rubber band left around!!

Back to the name! Just like kennels and farms, those that raise cats or even just show cats come up with a cattery name to add to their cat's name. So Tony like Chaos. We couldn't use that because it was taken. So he said, "what about Kaos from the show Get Smart?" We both loved that show!! We could then use names that were about Chaos in general or about the show. Some of our cats have been or are: Blueprint of Kaos, No Fear of Kaos, and Kaos Maxwell Smart.

The name Kaos has been stamped onto everything we have done. Many years ago we got a web domain, teamkaos.org. I have run a dog/cat food delivery with the Kaos Pet Products name. We did drag racing for a few years with the TeamKaos Racing name. Now I use it with my photography, TeamKaos Photography.

Now one more thing on a name. My husband has two! Yes, at work he is John and at home he is Tony. His given name is John Anthony. His family has always called him Tony. So I have directly called him John about three times in the sixteen years we have been together. Once was on our wedding day 13 years ago! I have to remember when I go up to work to address him as John to his co-workers.

So I guess there are many things in a name, other than just letters.

Off to go do house work!

A sleepless morning

I must figure out how to fix the time on the blog. I was typing at 1:30 am Tuesday and it published it still as Monday. Oh, well I'll add that to the list. Probably not that high though.

Well it was around 3am when I went to sleep. But sleep was still restless. Tony's alarm goes off at 6:20am M-F. I hit snooze and then when it goes off again, we listen to the radio for a little bit before he gets in the shower, around 6:50am. I go feed the dogs and then let them out into the backyard.

So after all of that this morning, I tried to go back to sleep as I normally do but couldn't. I got up and got to my coffee maker before Tony could make it for me. It is going to be a high caffeine day! I've started a load of laundry and worked a little on the short shopping list. I need to run more laundry, pack, prep Tony's meals for the days I'm gone, clean the rabbit, bird and beardie cages, and go do the shopping. Oh, and work on the website outline so Sunday afternoon we can upload it! No Maureen I haven't forgotten.

But first
I will finish this and spend much needed time in God's word and pray some more. I've been praying for a friend in Missouri who has cancer. God has given him more time than those stupid doctors he first had, but now the cancer is back. This group of doctors isn't giving up, but it really isn't looking good. I'd really love for this to be one of those times that God steps in and heals him, but I know that is probably not in God's plan. It is really hard sometimes to remember that this isn't our final place, we are here but for a short time. We make these relationships and then it stings when they go away. But we must have faith that God will get us through it and that there is a bigger plan in our life. Doug and Judy I am praying for you!!!

I will write more later about the name. Stay tuned!

Getting Started

Ok, it's 1:30 in the morning and I can't sleep! I knew this would happen when I woke up at 10:55am this morning. But in all fairness to my body, I had been sick the day before.

So here we are at 1:30am starting a blog. I guess this has been my year to start embracing newer media and technology. First I give in and upgrade my cell phone to a QWERTY phone and get unlimited text messaging. This from the woman who said for years, "phones are for calling people." Then I joined Facebook a month ago. And now, a blog. Yes, a blog!

So people can read my ramblings about my ordinary life!

Well maybe now, I'll try to go to sleep. Too much to do tomorrow. Packing to go out of town. Plus I have a website that I really need to get planned out for my friend.

And yes, thank you Lord that these people saw fit to put a spell check on here!
